Tour overview On the outskirts of Teplá (pop 3, 000), we reach the Premostratensian monastery, founded in 1193 (closed in January). Walk through a Romanesque-Gothic church and the second-largest library in the country which contains around 100,000 books. The largest monastic library in Prague’s Strahov Monastery holds about twice as many books. The next stop is Mariánské Lázně (pop 14, 100). Explore this beautiful spa town with its parks and springs, surrounded by green hilly landscape. Enjoy the delightful atmosphere around the Colonnade, have a sip from your spa cup to taste the mineral water from the Cross spring or be close to the Singing Fountain if you wish. Local fresh sweet wafers are a good choice, not only kids love it. After a short drive to the Boheminium Park (open April through October), discover so called “Czech scaled down”. There you find realistic miniatures of significant sites of the Czech Republic, all in one place, models in scale 1: 25. This scale is adjusted to what you would see flying 200 meters above. You get a perfect idea, what to expect in this country and how it looks like. Then we head to Kladská Peat Bogs Nature Reserve, which is a part of Slavkov Forest National Park. There is a hunting lodge and log cabins built in old Swiss- Tyrol style at the end of the 19th century. A wooden boardwalk of the Tajga Nature Trail (1, 6 km) runs around the pond. The whole area has been protected for its rare plant & animal species since 1933 and kept without human interference. Once we make our way to Karlovy Vary, it’s time to relax a little bit.
